Electric Railway Modelers
Why Join our club?
You get access to decades of combined experience from other members!
If you are new to the hobby, no worries. If you don’t know how to do something, we are here to share our knowledge. But new members bring their own talents and energy and that inspires the old timers.
We are always learning new things from each other. And best of all is the camaraderie found in working together on a common interest.
When it all comes together, and the trains are running, it’s a collaborative work of art! Contact Us!
You, too, can model streetcars, subway/elevated trains, interurbans or light rail in ho scale.
Would you get any satisfaction out of converting ho scale electric railway vehicles to operate from a powered overhead wire?
If the answer is YES, the SC Traction Club may be just right for you. Get in touch!

Frequently Asked
Questions
How long have you been around?
Seems like forever!
In real life, that means we started displaying our modeling in 1995. We are the oldest club in Southern California (and possibly anywhere) that focuses solely on traction trains.
How can I participate if I don’t live in Southern California?
The Club an E-Membership for those who live over 100 miles away. The cost is $10.00 per year: you’ll get the monthly club newsletter and you can participate in any of our appearances or club meetings when you happen to be in the local area.
What makes your club so special? Why traction?
Hundreds of electric streetcars and interurban railways across the country (and the world), operated off overhead wires from the turn of the 20th Century onward. Traction models run off the overhead electric wire just like the real thing: it doesn’t get any more realistic than that!
How often do you meet?
We meet on Sundays twice a month in Baldwin Vista area of Los Angeles at our SC Traction clubhouse.
Okay, you’ve sold me. How much does it cost to join the Club?
Dues are $30 a each quarter, which is a bargain, because we are sure it is…(At least we all think it is!)
Do you have to string the overhead power lines for each show??
No! Each modules’ overhead wires, called the Overhead Contact System (OCS), is done permanently and then bridge wires between each module are installed at every show.
We would love to hear from you! Send us an email using the button below, and we will answer any and all your questions you may have about the SC Traction Club.
